Karavasta Lagoon is the ecological centrepiece of the Divjake-Karavasta National Park and the single best birdwatching site in Albania. The lagoon covers 42 square kilometres and is separated from the Adriatic by a narrow pine-covered sandbar. The star residents are the Dalmatian pelicans – roughly 5 percent of the global population breeds here – but you will also see flamingos, pygmy cormorants, glossy ibises, and over 200 other species depending on the season. The lagoon is accessible via the park visitor centre in Divjake, where local guides arrange small boat trips into the channels.

How to Get There
Same as Divjake. The park visitor centre arranges boat access. No public transport reaches the lagoon directly. A taxi from Lushnje to the visitor centre costs roughly 1,000 LEK.

- Bring binoculars. The visitor centre rents them but supply is limited.
