Curraj i Eperm is an isolated village deep in the Albanian Alps, accessible only by a rough dirt track or on foot from Theth. It sits at roughly 900 metres in the upper valley of the Curraj River, surrounded by the most dramatic peaks of the Prokletije massif. The village is one of the most remote permanently inhabited settlements in Albania, with perhaps 20 families remaining year-round. There is no phone signal, no shop, no guesthouse in the formal sense – only the stone houses of the Curraj fis, the extended family clan that has lived in this valley for centuries.
Curraj i Eperm is not a destination in the conventional sense. It is a place for experienced hikers and those seeking the rawest, most uncompromised version of the Albanian highlands. The surrounding peaks – including Maja e Jezereces, the highest in the Dinaric Alps at 2,694 metres – offer world-class mountaineering. The village itself is a cluster of traditional stone kullas, some still inhabited, some abandoned, set against a backdrop of vertical limestone walls. Getting there requires a 4×4, a local guide, or both.

How to Get There
The only vehicular access is a rough dirt track from Theth, passable only by 4×4 and only in summer. The drive takes roughly 1.5 hours. Alternatively, it is a full-day hike from Theth. A local guide is strongly recommended. No public transport.
