Lin is a small peninsula village on the western shore of Lake Ohrid, roughly 20 kilometres north of Pogradec, and it is one of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements in Europe. A prehistoric stilt-house settlement dating from 6,000 BC was discovered just offshore, and the mosaic floors of a 5th-century paleo-Christian basilica are visible near the village church. The village itself is a cluster of traditional stone houses with red-tiled roofs, narrow cobbled lanes, and spectacular views across the lake to the mountains of North Macedonia. It is quiet, authentic, and completely untouristed compared to the Macedonian side of the lake.

How to Get There
From Pogradec, drive north along the lake shore on the paved road. Lin is signed and the drive takes 20 minutes. A taxi from Pogradec costs 1,000 to 1,500 LEK.
