Rrogozhine is a small town in central Albania, roughly 35 kilometres south of Durres on the SH4 highway, and it is primarily a railway junction and agricultural centre rather than a tourist destination. The town is the point where the Albanian railway line splits toward Vlore in the south and Pogradec in the east, and the station, though largely disused for passenger services, is a relic of the communist-era rail network. The surrounding countryside is flat and agricultural, part of the fertile Myzeqe plain that supplies much of central Albania vegetables.
Rrogozhine is unlikely to appear on any itinerary, but for those with an interest in Albanian railway history or the agricultural heartland of the country, it offers a glimpse of a side of Albania that is neither coastal Riviera nor mountain village. The town market sells local produce at farm-direct prices, and the surrounding villages produce some of the best watermelons in Albania in late summer.
